Under ESA contract, MRS has developed the fully polarimetric P-band SAR and ice sounding radar, POLARIS, which is suitable for airborne campaigns in support of ESA’s P-band SAR mission, Biomass. MRS is strongly involved in the Biomass mission, participating in ESA studies and in the Mission Advisory Group.
MRS is also about to complete development of a MIMO radar. This activity is part of a collaboration with the Danish radar company Terma A/S, and the concrete application is ground-based drone detection, but many other radar systems can benefit from the MIMO technique, e.g. ground-based scatterometers, airborne radar ice sounders and space based SAR systems.
