The world's first 3D metal prints from space has landed and one of them is on its way to DTU

DTU has designed one of the first metal objects ever produced in space. It was made using a 3D printer aboard the International Space Station and has now landed with a SpaceX spacecraft off the coast of Florida. After New Year, the 3D-printed object will be sent to DTU for detailed examination.

It took several weeks for DTU Space to get the metal object 3D printed aboard the International Space Station, as the operation required a number of safety precautions. Photo: ESA/NASA.
